Description
This arrangement of Grieg’s music takes one of the pieces he wrote while staying at Troldhaugen. It is a really lovely piece in three sections, producing a very clear Ternary structure. The first section, repeated at the end, is underpinned by a regular rhythmic pattern, while the middle section, marked Molto tranquillo (Very tranquilly), forms a peaceful contrast, with sustained notes and gently descending phrases, repeated sequentially.
The first section – Con moto (with movement) – returns to bring the piece to a lively conclusion.
There is also an arrangement for Clarinet Quintet which can be found under the “Wind Ensembles” section.
