Description

This is an updated and extended version of the arrangement of Dark Island  which I did in 2016. I have added a Clarinet in C to enable other instruments of similar range to be substituted, thereby rendering the arrangement more flexible. I have also made the individual parts more independent.

The scoring is now Flute 1, Flute 2 / Descant Recorder, Clarinet in C and / or Bb, Violin, Accordion / Piano / Guitar and Cello / Bass. The Cello / Bass is to be played arco until Letter A and then can be played either arco or pizzicato  as preferred.

This beautiful traditional Scottish melody should be played with feeling. It is an ideal piece for concerts and ensemble work. It is eminently suitable for GCSE Ensemble performance.

The MM given is appropriate, but can be slightly modified, if preferred.
