Description

This is another in my series of “variable” arrangements: although it is for specific instruments, these can be adapted to meet the resources available. There are 4 Jigs in this set, culminating in Elsie Marley. I have done another arrangement of this particular jig, combining it with My dearie sits ower late up in 9/8. The other three here are Gary Owen, Paddy Whack and Maggie Brown’s Favourite.

The original arrangement is for Flutes 1 & 2, Descant Recorder (doubling Flute 2), Clarinet in C / Bb, Violin, Accordion / Piano / Guitar and Bass. If a 5-couple set is needed, may I suggest playing in the order 4 – 1 – 2 – 3 – 4? And, as with all dance sets – ENJOY!

As always, it is suitable for Folk / Ceilidh Bands, Concerts, Ensemble work or as part of a Performing submission for GCSE, ensuring rules about doubling are followed.
