Description
Instrumentation: Flute, Descant Recorder / Flute 2, Bb Clarinet, Violin, Accordion (Piano / Guitar), Bass
This arrangement came about when I borrowed a book some of the violinists in the Folk Band were using at the time so I could access another tune. I asked if they would like to have an arrangement of this as a change from our more usual folk music and they did.
The music is attributed to no less a figure that King Henry VIII, a known composer and lover of music.
The arrangement initially presents the music in a fairly straightforward manner before adding quite a high degree of ornamentation, very much in the style of the period. It makes a good accompaniment for a dance as well as being an entertaining Concert item and an appropriate Ensemble submission for GCSE, proving any rules regarding doubling of parts are observed.
