Description
Instrumentation: Flute 1, Flute 2 / Descant recorder, Clarinet in Bb, Violin, Accordion / Piano / Guitar and Cello / Bass.
This traditional reel is a lively tune which needs to be played with a real sense of ‘lift’, remembering that it is a dance tune.
The main melody is presented first with only minimal decoration before further ideas are added to create quite an intricate texture at times. As with other arrangements I have done, I have taken advantage of the opportunities offered within this tune for ‘staggered’ entries, in this case the rising triplet semiquaver figure being passed from one instrument to another.
It would be equally at home at a Ceilidh, a school concert or as a submission as an Ensemble performance at GCSE.
As with all other arrangements for this line-up, it is flexible in that other suitable instruments can be substituted for any of the lines.
