Description
Instrumentation: Flute 1, Flute 2 / Descant Recorder, Clarinet in Bb, Violin, Accordion / Piano / Guitar and Bass.
This set of two slip jigs is arranged for flexible instrumentation and features lively dance tunes in 9/8, ideal for folk bands, ceilidhs or GCSE / KS4 Ensemble
These traditional slip jigs (jigs in 9/8) follow the example of others in having scope for flexibility in instrumentation. For example, wind players might consider playing only for the repeat of each section.
Slip jigs are traditionally used for dances such as “Strip the Willow” and, where this is the case, many bands will increase the tempo towards the end of their set. For such a dance, it would be necessary to play through each of these tunes several times or link them to another set of slip jigs (e.g. Four Slip Jigs.)
