Description
Although this appears to be a fairly recent work, it has, in fact, been several years in gestation. The opening idea goes back quite some years and was, originally, intended as the opening for a piece for clarinet and piano. However, the more the ideas evolved, the more the sound of the treble recorder seemed much more appropriate.
It has an overall Rondo structure being fundamentally A B A C A, with the main idea having a modal quality, something I really like. The tempo in the recording can be relaxed a little, if preferred.
It was written with my wife’s recorder playing in mind with myself as the pianist and I trust that others will find it as appealing as we have.
It would also work as a GCSE submission and / or Concert item.
