Description
Instrumentation: standard Wind Band
This is a relatively straightforward arrangement of this popular and well-known Christmas carol. Some decorative accompaniment figures have been incorporated to give opportunities for displaying instrumental colour and careful dynamic shaping.
There are three “verses” with brief passages to introduce, link and conclude the piece. It is arranged for Wind Band but there is scope for omitting one or two instruments if the resources are unavailable or, in some cases, substituting another: for example, a flute could replace the oboe while the F horn part could be played on another tenor horn, or vice versa.
It will suit players of Grade 3 standard and above and good tone quality is really important for this type of carol arrangement.
