Description
This arrangement for Brass Septet is scored for 2 trumpets, horn in F, tenor horn, euphonium, trombone and tuba.
La Mourisque is a Renaissance dance by Tylman Susato from the collection of some 60 dances known as ‘Danserye’. His dates of birth and death are unclear, the former put at 1510 – 1515 and the latter after 1570.
It is arranged here for a group of players of intermediate standard. The music has a limited range within each part and is rhythmically straightforward. It is good ensemble practice and a colourful piece for performance either by a brass group or players from KS3 or GCSE standard. It would also be acceptable for GCSE ensemble submission, providing that rules on “doubling” are observed.
